Vincent van Gogh, one of the most renowned figures in Western art, is celebrated for his vivid use of color, emotional depth, and innovative brushwork. Born on March 30, 1853, in the Netherlands, van Gogh’s early years were marked by an unsteady pursuit of purpose. Initially, he attempted a variety of career paths, including working as an art dealer and later becoming a teacher and missionary. It was not until his late twenties that he began to earnestly pursue painting, a decision that would ultimately shape the course of art history.
